Chapter 8
A man's best fire breather
After 15 minutes of staring at me the lady cleared her throat and said, "Sorry about that. My name is Mary. I get a bit of a temper with that girl. At times she can't tame that wild beast inside of her. I sometimes fear that she's one of the most powerful werewolves of our time. At first it was just a little thought in my head but she's now showing more signs. Oh, this is James, he's a wizard, he's also the activity's director." She pointed to the man. He was tall and had curly hair and little stubby hairs on the bottom half of his face. He smiled. Next Mary pointed to the girl, "This is Ajay. She's my little helper. Why! I even think of her as my daughter at moments. She's a vampire, oh but don't worry she's learned how to keep herself under control." Ajay rolled her eyes. Ajay had long brown hair and brown eyes. Again, she looked about my age, but through her eyes I could tell she was older, full of wisdom and a lot of happiness. "Ajay, darling, would you please show Seth around," Mary told Ajay. Ajay just stood there. Mary got really impatient,"Hon, that wasn't a request. That was a command." Ajay sighed and went out the door. I stumbled behind her. As she closed the door Casey ran towards me. "You're awake!" she exhaled when she caught up to us. "C.J. and me have been so worried! We wanted to visit but they said that we might just make you sleep longer. That doesn't even make sense. I mean, how could we make you sleep longer if we're just saying hi. Oh, I'm so sorry!" She kept jabbering on about how they should've been able to go visit. Then finally she sighed. "Where are you guys going?" Casey asked. "I'm going to give him a tour of the place. Wanna come?" Ajay said half-heartedly. I could tell that Ajay didn't want Casey to come. Casey's eyes lit up as if she just got the best Christmas present in the world. "Yes. Thank you so much! You know it's weird, I thought that you'd still be mad at me." As we walked we were all quiet. Until I broke the silence. I stopped walking,"Does it stink to you?" They looked at me like I was crazy. I looked around to see where the smell was coming from. There was a stable on my right side. They looked at where I was looking they both said at the same time, "Oh that! It's been so long since the smell bothered me." Now it was my turn to look at them crazy. They were kinda like twins. Sometimes they said the same thing at the same time, and they looked similar. They started to walk again. "Um... hello? Are you guys going to tell me what that awful smell is?" I asked. They both laughed. "Maybe you should wait awhile for us to tell you that," they said together. Then they just kept walking. As we passed I saw normal camp stuff volleyball, basketball court, A big farm house, stables, woods all around. They turned a corner and I saw cabins in a circle. There was one cabin missing to make a full circle. I counted all the cabins. There was 10 cabins. In the middle of the circle was a fire. around the fire were chairs connected to round tables. There were kids, young and old everywhere, smiling, and running around. It looked like they all enjoyed living here. It almost looked like this was their home. I smiled at two boys who looked alike and the little boy was getting chased by his older brother. When I didn't follow Casey and Ajay they came back and each of them grabbed one of my ears and dragged me along. I made sure that I was walking with them or my ear's would fall off. These were some of the strongest girls I'd ever seen. They didn't tell me anything about the places we passed. Isn't a tour when someone points to the thing and says, "This is..."? They stopped at one of the newest looking cabins. It was pure black marble and had beautiful flowers on the window. The window drapes were purple with stars. "Why are you guys stopping? Is it because you guys are gonna jerk on my ea-" I was interrupted. "You're a wizard right? Well, this is your cabin. Enjoy. And this concludes our tour," they smirked. As they walked away they just kept giggling. I went inside. On the left and right side there was two bunks on each side. On the north end (the end that I got in through) there was a door, in the middle of the wall, leading to the outside on each side of the door there was shelves hanging on the wall. Each shelve contained a dozen books. On the south side there was a wide desk, the top of it filled with papers and liquids in bottles and dust in bags, on the left side of the desk was a white container, hanging on the wall, with a big red cross. On the right side were millions of blue prints stuck to the wall. I looked around. I smiled. This is my kind of place, I thought. "Hey, hey you! get away from that! That's not yours! And do I smell a girl scent on you? It's weird I haven't talked to a non-wizard girl in a long time," a plugged-nose voice said from one of the right side, top, bunks. I jumped and hit the side of the desk with my thigh, knocking down some stuff on the table. I got to the ground with a hurt thigh and picked everything up. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... mean to touch anything. I'm just new here and this is my cabin. I'm sorry I must have gotten the wrong cabin. Sorry!" I slowly walked toward the door. "Wait! Come a little closer, newbie," the voice said. I turned and slowly came toward the bunk. A small head popped out in between the blanket and mattress. His face had freckles everywhere, he had big round glasses, and two buck teeth sticking out his mouth with braces on them, he had stringy, greasy, brown hair. He looked me inch by inch. "Yep, I do sense a lot of power in you," he sniffed the air. "Enough power to be a sorcerer!" He yelled as he stuck out his small arms, making a superman flying pose. Either his lower half was lighter than his upper half, or he doesn't know how the superman pose is done, because right as he started saying his sentence he tipped over and fell on his back, in front of me. I helped him up, which wasn't hard, speaking that he was probably 70 pounds. He sniffed, "Thanks." "No problem. How do you know that I'm powerful? And how did you know that I was by girls today?"
"Not all wizards can do it. All wizards have their own special power. Mine is really good smelling. I can smell every little detail on you. Like how you fought a minotaur today."
"You're smelling told you that I fought a minotaur?"
"Of course not! I'm in the life cycle too! Everyone knows that you fought a minotaur. Everyone also knows that minotaurs smell like nothing. I was just joking e=with you when i said that I smelt you fought with a minotaur." He sniffled in between every word. "Really? 'Cause that minotaur sure smelt like mold and mildew when I fought it. The fury just smelt plain bad," I muttered. When I spoke of smelling bad it reminded me of the things in the stable. He laughed, "Apparently you got a good sense of humor."
"What's in the stables near the farm house?"I asked.
He stopped laughing immediately. "They're dragons you get one as a pet if you accomplish a quest. And by your scent of power I'm guessing you're going on a quest soon. Right after he said that someone knocked on the door. "Hey Seth? You in there?" It was Casey.
"Ooo... a lady. Invite her in!" The nerd boy said. I looked at him with one eyebrow raised. "C'mon in!" I yelled. She opened the door and came in, and looked around. She stopped looking around when she saw him looking at her like she was worth a million bucks. "Stop it right now, or I'm going to punch your braces and buck teeth out," she said calmly. She's probably done it before because he immediately stopped and went back into his bed. "Come with me. Later Snooty!" She said as she grabbed my wrist and yanked me out. "Where are you taking me?" I asked. "You wanted to know what's in the stables. Well, you're going to find out," she answered. By that answer I could only guess that she was going to take me to the stables again. I was correct. She opened the stable doors and let go of my wrist. She waited for me to go in. "Well? Are you afraid or are you going to go in?" She didn't let me answer she grabbed my wrist again and yanked me into the stables. I saw my last bit of light when she closed the door. It was as black as night. Then there was a small flame. It moved to the left and got a little bigger. "Usually I would want to make the flame light up the whole room but this is the stables. We have to be careful," she whispered。That's what really scared me. She led me to one of the stables. "What's your favorite small and big dog?" She asked.
"Great Dane and miniature schnauzer."
"We've got just the thing for you then." she smirked. she took me all the way to the back of the stables, opened one of the doors. She lit that whole stable with light there was a little black puppy with white ears and whit paws.
"This is your dragon if you complete a quest. He can turn into a Mini Schnauzer, a Great Dane, and a dragon. He can still fly in dog form but can't breath fire," she whispered. I looked at the little puppy. It was hard to believe that such a deadly creature could come out of this puppy. I already knew what I would name him. Pepsi.
