Chapter 11~Land of No return

Chapter 11
Breakfast
I woke up to the light streaming through the window. It was going to be a bright and sunny day. I didn't notice yesterday, but there was a fire pole right next to the window. I yawned. Today was the first day of training. I got up and got dressed, made my bed, then went down the stairs. As I took my final step the stair way slowly moved in an empty space in the wall.

When it was completely in, the wall slid in front of it, so you could no longer see it. I looked around. Mainly everybody was making their bed, or in a line, in front of the wall. I walked outside. I started walking toward the big farm house, which they call the main cabin, or counselors cabin. Zoe ran up to me. "Hey, I'll show you where we eat breakfast," Zoe told me.

"Lead the way." She turned around and marched towards the Counselor’s cabin.

On the side of the cabin there was a long table, with food on top. “You just grab a plate and put anything you like on it,” Zoe informed me. I nodded. Once we were done she started heading the direction of the back of the cabin. Then she made a turn towards the woods.

“Um. Are you sure we’re allowed to go into the woods? Because I got a bad feeling about this,” I told her.

“Oh, relax! This is the way to were we eat breakfast. Believe me, I know what I’m doing.” Sure enough after one minute of walking, there was a pavilion, and under were kids sitting on benches eating breakfast. I walked over to one of the metal tables. And sat down.

“You want me to sit with you? ‘Cause I don’t want you to be sitting alone. It’d look weird,” Zoe asked me.

“Thanks, but no thanks. I think I’m just going to wait for C.J. and Casey.”

She looked at me disappointed, “Oh well okay, whatever, there’s some other people who want me to sit with them.” As she walked away, she made me feel really guilty. I watched her to see where she’d sit. She didn’t walk to far till she sat at an empty table. That made me feel really guilty.

It didn’t last long, because right then someone patted me hard on the back. My face flew onto my tray. I lifted my head. I looked behind me. C.J. and Casey were there trying not to laugh. With her free hand Casey snapped, a mirror appeared in my hand. I looked at it. I had oatmeal on my forehead, little bits of eggs on my left cheek, and syrup on my right, with pieces of pancake.

I looked around, everyone saw what just happened. All the chattering, was replaced with whispers and snickers. When all of a sudden a kid yells, “BREAKFAST FACE!” Soon, everyone was chanting, “BREAKFAST FACE! BREAKFAST FACE!”

Casey got up on the table, and screamed. Everyone stopped and looked at her. “I want you all to just stop, and stuff your faces into your breakfast. And like those zombies at my school, they did what they were told. After, they lifted their faces they came back to reality everyone looked at each other, and laughed.

Casey snapped, everyone had mirrors in their hands. It went dead silent as everybody looked at their reflection. That’s when everyone laughed even harder.

“There now everyone’s Breakfast Face. See, there was nothing to overreact about,” Casey said jumping down from the table. Me, Casey, and C.J. all ate in silence.

C. J. finally got up and grunted, “Come on, let’s go start your training,” I was a little too depressed to say anything so I just stood up and followed him, Casey behind us. Soon we came up to a dome shaped building made of red bricks. We walked through the big silver metal doors.

It was huge inside. The ground and walls were made out of soft cushiony matts. In the middle was a wrestling ring, on the opposite of the entrance were punching bags. Right next to the doors, were the weapons.

“We should start you off easy. You and C.J, fight,” Casey told me.
“Well I’m pretty sure I can do better than C.J,” I said.

C.J. gasped, and walked away. “Okay, then newbie, you go against me,” she said with her lips pursed.

I puffed, “I’m not scared.” And then…. She hit me right in the nose.
